A new addition

So, we received word a little over a week ago that the litter of kittens the breeder was expecting was born on Sept. 15 (yes, that is the picture above). Needless to say, we are extremely excited about this. We received one initial picture.. and I assume the breeder is waiting until the kittens get their fluffy kitten fur and have bright, open eyes to send more.

We have SO much preparation to do to get ready for this little baby to come home... luckily, we have about 14 weeks to go before it is ready to be introduced to its forever home.

For info purposes, we chose to get a Ragdoll Kitten from Rose Hill Rags cattery in Woodbury, MN. We are hoping to get a seal point mitted kitten of the male persuasion... but we are flexible on this. These cats are so awesome!

If you haven't heard of them before, Ragdoll cats get their name largely due to their size and their habit of "flopping" like a ragdoll when you pick them up. They have friendly dispositions... and are likened to dogs trapped in a cat's body. You can train them to do things... they will come to the door when you come home and wait for you to enter... and they love to be cuddled and held. (You don't know how much I miss this from Sir Launcelot... he was so awesome).

So, let the excitement and kitten preparations begin!

You do not 'train' cats! You gently encourage them so that they will honor you with their gifts. :)

A little bit different... maybe not so much.

So many things change so fast... I've settled to hold on tight and enjoy the ride!
