Excercise, friend or foe?

I recently have been searching for the perfect workout. I NEED to get back in shape. I'm tired of watching the scale tell me I'm fluffy... I want the fluff to go away and stay away!

So, I went out last weekend and purchased a Bosu Ball on sale for $42.00 ($49.99 with a 20% off coupon). (Not bad, considering they are $99 almost everywhere... I love you, Bed Bath and Beyond!) I got it home, unpacked it and inflated the ball... then read the manual. (For those that know me, you know this is a rarity... I don't like to spend time reading when I can be doing.)

The cute little inflating tool got the attention of both of our animals as I was inflating the ball. It was making this odd squeaky/airy sound as I would push on the accordion part to inflate the ball. While Bella is fearless and got right up in my face to figure out what the deuce was going on; Apollo stood at a distance and tilted his head from side to side. (He chose to wait until I stopped with the inflating project to come in closer and check me out to make sure it didn't hurt me.)

Monday I decided to start with my Bosu ball workout. For those of you who are skeptical... I was absolutely shocked with the difficulty of the workout. Simply changing your ability to balance on a flat surface to trying to balance on a softer, less stable surface forces your muscles to respond in a completely different manner altogether! It really did bring the simple workout to a whole different level of difficulty!)

I did the first two segments of the video workout that came with the ball.. and am actually considering purchasing at least one of the other workout videos once I get myself acclimated to working out with this little apparatus.

It was quite an accident that I ended up purchasing this piece of equipment... I actually went into the store with the intention of buying an Ab Circle Pro (which I would like to add to my little home gym at some point); but decided instead to spend the money on the little sale item. I'm glad I had the sudden change of heart... because my abs and legs still feel the effect of the workout.

Tuesday; I did a 25 minute workout on my Gazelle. I figured I wouldn't do the every day workout on the Bosu just yet.. as it is still new to me; I don't want to get on it when muscles are still sore and fatigued and end up falling or hurting myself.

Hooray for a great workout on a very different apparatus! I do still need to find a better place to store it when I'm not using it, though.

A little bit different... maybe not so much.

So many things change so fast... I've settled to hold on tight and enjoy the ride!
