So... Friday night, we decided that it was time to pull out all of the decorations that have spent the last 10 or so months stored beneath the stairs and sort them out for another holiday season of National Lampoon-esque decorating splendor. My husband worked all weekend for the PD... so I had nothing to do but put up cutesies and holly and trees.
Saturday: after accomplishing my morning errands; I began work on my pride and joy... the wolf tree. Yes, you read that right... the wolf tree. This tree is a 7 foot slimline faux pine with blue and white lights and snowflake and icicle ornaments... it is also adorned with about 40 hand crafted wolf ornaments from the Bradford Exchange. (Rob bought these for me early in our relationship... they are gorgeous!) I finish this tree with a star and some beaded garland. {Of course, after I got it all put together, I realized I had forgotten to put on the blue and white shimmer lights... I didn't have the time to tear everything off the tree and put them on last weekend, but this may be done this weekend.}
Sunday: I had to run out and get some lights and a tree topper for our bedroom tree. In previous years, we had just used a small little 3-foot job in our bedroom... but with the unveiling of the slim-line tree for the wolf ornaments... we now have a 6-foot tree in our bedroom. I adorned this one lovingly with LED motion lights... and some colorful lights that don't do anything fancy but stay lit steadily. I broke out all of the nostalgic ornaments (homemade ones, etc) and put them on this tree and finished it with a homemade link garland that I made a few years ago out of different colors of shimmery Christmas ribbon.
Also on Sunday, I decided to make a turkey, a pie and some cinnamon raisin muffin bread. The cinnamon raisin muffin bread serves as a lower sugar option for our breakfast toast... it's tasty and is hearty! The turkey and pie were made so we could have our little Thanksgiving feast last night (and also so we can enjoy left over turkey sandwiches... yum!)
On the docket for this weekend: the humongo tree that we construct in the basement family room... the tree for Rob's office...and the tree that is in the kitchen ready to be adorned with pretty kitchen themed holiday stuff.
I'd also like to get downstairs and get some sewing done at some point... I have to rework a pattern to make an outfit for one of the dolls down there (yes, dolls... I don't have children to sew for at this time, so I practice clothing design on the dolls I have from my childhood.)

A little bit different... maybe not so much.
So many things change so fast... I've settled to hold on tight and enjoy the ride!
