Co-pilot deliberately crashed Germanwings plane; 150 died
Praying for the families and friends of those involved. Such a tragic way to lose a loved one. So sudden, without explanation.
There are so many questions swirling in my head about this story. We are learning now that it seems he deliberately brought the plane down as there are settings that have to be manually initiated in order for the descent of the aircraft to take place.
1. Why was the copilot left in a locked cockpit alone?
I was under the impression this was a thing of the past. I fly relatively frequently... and I have not seen this in practice in years. As a matter of fact, the last flight we went on, the pilot had to dismiss himself to use the facilities. Not only did a flight attendant step into the cockpit with the copilot, another, rather well built gentleman flight attendant blocked the aisle until the pilot was safely back in the cockpit. He wouldn't even let anyone form a line to use the restroom until the pilot had returned to his post.

2. Why take down an aircraft full of innocent people?
Seriously, what does that prove? That, not only are you too chicken to live your life, but you're too chicken to end it in solitude? Why are you going to affect the lives of 150 people? Why hurt families you don't even know? Isn't enough pain caused to your own family?
3. Is there something more sinister at play here?
It is still really early in the investigation into this case. But you have to wonder if there is going to be claim from one of these terrorist organizations out there at some point. Why would anyone in their right mind just crash into a mountain?

4. Do I need to be concerned about air travel?
This is a big one. We fly at least one time a year... and it really concerns me that there could potentially be some nut job behind the controls.
ISIS 'Hit List' Fuels Concerns Over Tech-Savvy Terrorists
So... I don't know about you guys, but this is EXTREMELY troubling to me. Not only is terrorism a real concern in the world as we know it, now they are making hit lists of military personnel. As if random hits wasn't enough.
It has become almost laissez faire in today's day in age, this idea of terrorism. We have heard it over and over again.
From malls on hit lists, to buildings being brought down by aircraft, to kidnappings, to beheadings. You name it, and it's all something we have heard before. The world has literally become a place where you increasingly have to look over your shoulder everywhere you go.
It's frightening. I have two beautiful little boys... and I am really concerned about this world they are growing up in. It's crazy.
Cop Killers
Lately there has been a lot of talk about police and transparency with the public to improve the damaged relationship caused by deaths at the hands of police officers. This idea is just crazy to me.
Whatever happened to respecting authority, up to and including police officers?
To coin a song..."there's something wrong with the world today, and I don't know what it is." What I do know is that it concerns me. There is a lot of unrest these days.
