Shocking

I read a news story this morning. I really should avoid reading the news, because it always leaves me with a sense of shame and numbness when it comes to the human race.

In short, a pregnant woman (7 mo pregnant) turned to Craigslist to find clothing for her unborn child. She agreed to meet the poster at their residence to get the clothing. When she showed up, she was beaten, stabbed, and then the baby was cut out of her womb.

As she was at the hospital, the other person showed up with her deceased baby... claiming she had suffered a miscarriage.

To simply say this is tragic, sad, appalling... doesn't even touch the tip of the iceberg. The level of sadness and anger I feel at this is just indescribable.

What the hell is the world coming to?

What caused this crazy reaction? Why would someone even do this to another person?  You don't know what this person went through to achieve pregnancy. Now, you have forever scarred them. Who knows... you've potentially even caused irreparable damage that may make getting pregnant again very difficult if possible at all. You have taken away their child - forever. This is something that can't be changed. You can't take it back.

I can't even imagine the feelings this poor young expectant mother is going through. I don't want to imagine them. One minute, she's happily looking for clothes for her unborn infant. The next, she is in the hospital and her child is dead. Seriously? Why is there such immense evil in the world today?
