I was reading a friend's blog... and decided I would steal her idea. I love doing lists... I've always found it's a great way to show people what type of person you really are... by airing your thoughts and letting them know what makes you tick.
So, here goes.....
The Ten Things that Make Me Happy - during the holiday season and all year long...
1. My cat's purr. Sir Launcelot has one of the deepest, loudest, and most content purrs I have ever heard. It is just difficult to describe how comforting it is to have him cuddle up next to you or on your lap and purr while you pet him after a long day at work. (This has since been adjusted... Bella, our new kitten, has just as loud and comforting a purr. She just isn't quite to the point of letting you really cuddle up to her yet... she's still too busy being a kitten.)
2. Our dog running into the room with his stuffed pillow. Apollo is a massive, muscular dog. I bought him a large stuffed bone that is made of red fleece with snowflakes printed on it. I can't begin to explain how cute it is to see him pick it up and carry it around the house.
3. Holiday decorations. I love decorating our house. Then I love watching the lights twinkle off of the ornaments and garland. I take lots of pictures of our decorations every year... and will often pull them up and look at them throughout the year as a reminder of the magic of the holiday season.
4. Rob. Yes, you read that correctly... Rob makes me very happy. He is the most amazing and wonderful husband in the world. It's the little things he does... like making dinner so I can exercise or go on walks with the dog... cleaning the house when he has a day off so I can concentrate on arts and crafts if I have them planned, or simply being there with a strong, understanding hug and lots of encouragement when I'm not feeling very confident in myself.
5. Our family. Rob and I are blessed with the most loving, supportive and awesome family. They are the greatest collection of people that anyone could hope to be related to... I'm thankful I can call them mine.
6. Freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. I love chocolate chip cookies... and Rob makes the best ones this side of the Mississippi River!
7. Playing in the snow. Yes, I am wacked! But I Have always loved building things in the snow... and I grew up in Oklahoma... where we didn't get a lot of snow. I love to build forts and snow people when it's not so cold outside that the snow flakes refuse to stick together.
8. Photography. Photography has always been one of my favorite esapes. I want to pay special thanks to my father for taking the time to share his passion.
9. Freshly fallen snow.... especially when it sticks to the tree branches and makes them look like the images on the front of Christmas cards.
10. A warm, happy home. This time of year always reminds me there are so many less fortunate than myself - so many who don't have the basic amenities available to them.
So, there you have it. My thoughts for the day.
